That's easy to fix... A bantam breed would not be that loud if you are
worried about the noise.

However the fox living next door is no longer honoring my popcorn loads of
shot. I stood there watching as she killed three of my hens the other day.
I couldn't get the shotgun loaded fast enough (And had a lot of fine words
to the person who unloaded it for me). So as I loaded, I stood there
yelling at the vixen, as I watched her kill 2 more hens.

This is WAR. No more popcorn shells, from now on, she gets the real thing.

Ok dear, I know that foxes are cute, but I personally would never have
tolerated her presence in the first place. ;-( Sorry!

I'd have set my big trap at the very least and relocated her... The
Brit's on the list have had too many problems with them.

Pigeons are remarkably practical and the meat and eggs are both quite
edible. You just have to give them enough grain to encourage them to
stay around, and provide safe and accessible nesting sites.

So since you cant raise chickens, does this mean you are raising pigeons?
The city would probably never know.

The pigeons live here and are fed small amounts of hen scratch. Most of
them are leftovers from freed rescue birds but I have harvested squab in
the past when I had some nesting available for them.

As far as the city is concerned, they belong to god. :-) I DO intend to
build some secure nesting for them so I can harvest squab again. I just
need to get off my ass and do it. I have trees and fencing that will
support it, I just have to make sure it's predator proof.

I like pigeons, for numerous reasons.

A really pretty one that I don't recognize joined my flock the other
day! White with a mottled head and dark wings.

I have my muscovy ducks. What cuties! too bad they won't stay so cute.

That's a matter of opinion. <G> I think they make up for in personality
what they may lack in "looks". ;-)

And they are quieter and far less messy than other breeds.
