At first when my Rhode Island Reds and Americana hens (no roosters in
the coop) started loosing their feathers i thought they were molting.
When they didn't fully come back i wondered if maybe one of the "hens"
was really a rooster in hen's clothing. though i didn't see constant
fighting, i did remove the one hen that was in pristine condition
(could she be the bully?). No result. Then i dusted them as directed
by the local feed store guys with poultry dust. i also cleaned out
the coop and sprayed it down with disenfectant and also dusted the
dirt in their run. (they have lots of room). Still no result. Now i
notice that the Rhode Island Reds seem a little too red (their skin
and crowns). their poop is normal: respiratory normal. appetite
normal. behavior normal. egg production consistant. but they are
the ugliest balding things i have ever seen!!!! my sone and the dog
recently came down with ringworm....could there be a connection?
anyone?
have you read the archives of the group - including posts in the past couple
of days?
have you had anyone with knowledge see the birds?
feed store dusting is unlikely to be effective against much
You need someone like a vet to look at the birds to determine what kinds of
mites or skin infection they might have
