My wife & I suspect a feather mite which will not be visible to the
naked eye. It's called a deplumming mite:sarcoptidae and is the most
common. They recommend culling to prevent spread but you're like us I
assume and that's not an option.
Treatment: dip whole bird in solution of : 1 ounce soap / 2 ounces
sulphur / in one gallon of warm water. Spray all roosts with a
delicing liquid thoroughly, in all crevices Available in Feed store as
a cattle cure De-Lice. Do this twice yearly during the day and you
should be problem free.
