My araucana 'chicks' have all grown up and come of age (18
weeks) and though it is a bit soon to expect any first egg
yet, is there a chance of getting any this year or will I
have to wait until next spring? Any experiences gratefully
received :-)
mine started laying in the fall, i think around 19 or 20 weeks
old. they continued to lay during the winter, but i leave a
light (heat lamp) on in the chook house from 8am to 8 pm in
winter. there's a red heat lamp from 8pm to 8 am on cold
nights. keeps the area slightly above freezing.
