Interesting pets and nice eggs! I rescue ex-batteries and have a Sussex,
Norfolk Grey and Black Orpington for their good looks! I couldn't eat them.
I won't eat what I'm not prepared to kill.

I'm glad you realize that home egg production does not have to be
cruel...

I've rescued battery hens in the past. It's totally cool to watch birds
that have lived their entire lives in crowded cages suddenly become
"real chickens" in literally a matter of days. I even had some learn to
get up into trees.
