Just out of curiosity (and PLEASE don't take this as a slam as it's not
meant as such! I do respect vegetarian beliefs even tho' it's not my
lifestyle), why are you on a poultry list if you are a vegetarian???

No offence taken. I came on this list as I like to read about other people
hens. I do also read the threads about killing them. I'm not the sort to
preach my practices on other people. If people want to eat their chickens
then thats fine and I also believe and hope that they would kill their birds
as quick as possible.


Or do you just have them for the eggs?

Personal yard raised hens for egg production is anything but cruel if
done right. :-) I know I sure had some happy birds, especially the
"battery cage" rescues.

I've got rescue birds and call me dopey but seeing them happy makes me feel
good.
