define gm?? Are you genetically modified,,I think so.

Indeed. Deliberate genetic modification has been happening for a long
time!

I want to get a T-shirt with a picture of a dog that says "My dog is a
GMO". Americans by-and-large wouldn't 'get it', though, because (I
think) we tend not to be reflexively scared of new things here, so the
GMO thing doesn't tend to be a big concern here.

The genetic
modification of the proteins in the grains are broken down by the digestive
tract into assumable aminoacids. The segements of altered proteins are very
large in comparison. If there were a problem with digestion of any of these
"altered proteins" we would all have turned green with photosynthesis ages
ago.

In fairness, I think the concerns of the anti-GMO crod are abit more
nuanced. They fall into two categories:

1) concern that introduced and expressed proteins will cause allergy or
other autoimmune issues when the product is consumed.

2) concern that introduced genes will spread into the wild plant
poluation.

Both of these are valid concerns which shouldn't be overlooked.
However, the concerns should not, IMO, make people dismiss the value of
genetic manipulation.

As far as extra limbs goes, has there not been reference to "monsters" in
recorded ancient history. I believe this was some time before the advanced
hybridization techniques that are being done now. ...

I assumed Mary was making a joke. Nature does try lots of different
'variations on a theme'!
