Re: Baby chicken sick

Sigh
I went out midmorning, and found one chick in the middle of the grass,
in the sun, cheeping and looking dehydrated. So I picked it up, took
it to its Mom, and gave it water, but it kept falling over, and was
being trampled by the others.

Took it indoors to feed it separately, but it's not doing well. Vomits
foul-smelling fluid up, and seems to have trouble breathing. If I leave it
alone it gets cold, but I can't keep holding it.

Does this sound familiar?
If/when it dies, should I burn it?

Some wee ones just do, in the first few days
It may have been later to hatch than the others by a few hours and just not
as fit to keep up
HOWEVER
I would strongly recommend you find out what are the nasties that birds can
get in your neck of the woods, including the reportable ones.
That way you have an idea what you may be facing
