Currently I have one full sized *** (astralorp), two silkie bantam cocks and 21 hens...from what I've read you want about 12 hens to a cock....we did have a couple of other cocks and hens...originally purchased 32 chickens and lost 7 all together...most to pecking when they were younger...at least one to one of our dogs...(our dachshund got one of our Pollacks when he escaped from the chicken yard.)...We just ordered some more hens and cocks from a local hatchery...they will be with us in about a month.
