Hi All,Curious to know why you would want to feed it?
Is cod liver oil safe for chooks ? Dose it flavour the eggs or any
thing like that also.
Peggy
Too much fats are certainly very bad for birds as their livers cannot cope
with it and can cause fatal conditions. Before that surplus fats are laid
down inside teh bird as very hard deposits which can get in the way of
normal body function including the movement of eggs inside.
It does have some useful qualities for particular circumstances but you
to be very careful that there aren't other high fat sources in their diet.
I gave mine sardines as a protein supplement for the bugs they couldn't
catch being penned up, and it also provided oil which they need for their
feathers. For mites, lice, and whatever else I dipped mine in a lousing bath
about once a month during warm weather. I forget what I used though...
You can get powder too.
