Can I ask why you only let them out for such a short time?
If you have a large back garden I would really recommend you let
them out all day.
The garden is about 8metres squared, part concrete, part lawn and a
couple of flower beds with lots of pots. The reason I don't let them
out for long is because I am afraid they will completely decimate my
garden.
eeek -- I fear you have too many birds for total potential area.
Sorry
I would be tempted to say -- cut down to three birds and see how that works
for a year around.
Create a number of "play park" areas -- sacrificial places of deep bark and
at least one covered area [think coffee table covered in lovelies such as
clematis] over areas of sand that they can dust bath in all year around and
can sulk in through the winter.
How big is the henhouse?
