Within seconds my view is challenged. Just looked the New Hampshire
Red up in Wikipedia and it warns they can be agressive - definately do
not want/need that.
I am looking for a docile friendly bird to produce plent of good eggs
and to be happy kept in a run. We will allow them out to roam but
there will be a good amount of time spent in the run.

Hi all,
just found a new home for three of our four black rock/RhodesIsland
Red crosses after a year of pecking problems etc. (stopped now but
want to try something else. They have gone to a good home in a
woodland free ranging small holding.)
However, want to get a different breed to keep in our urban garden
with a large pen. I have looked through several breed types and
wondered if anybody has any comment or suggestions?
New Hampshire Red. One of our two favourites from the details we have
read.
Sussex Bantam. Our second of two favourites.
Maran: Almost a favourite
Others:
Australorps
Delaware
Faverolle
Miss Pepperpot
Plymouth Rock (and the Bantam version)
Sussex
Wyandotte.
Any idea where in the UK (we are in Sussex) we could get these birds?
Many thanks

Grit magazine just recently had an article on endangered "heritage" breeds (don't remember the right word), and it gave a listing of which ones like to stay in a coop, which ones liked to roam. I think it was Grit magazine. They did one issue on beef, another issue on chickens.
