Hi Peggy,

I'm in the US so not familiar with what is in your area, but two comments
struck me:

2. the chook did not have any weight.(just skin and bone)
5. he only feeds them wheat & scraps.

It sounds to me like they are starving (which would explain not laying).

I thought exactly the same thing. If he's as tight as you mention in
another post Peggy, then I think this may be the problem. Ask him how much
he feeds them and how often. Do they always have food provided so that they
can eat whenever they want to do so or does he just throw them out a handful
and then expect them to forage.

I'm not sure what you meant by point "6. his the chooks the the yard nixt to
his are laying 3 eggs a day.
There is only 3 chooks."

Do you mean that in a yard next door to where he lives, a neighbour has 3
chooks which are all well and all of the neighbour's chooks are laying? If
this is what you meant, then your friend's chooks won't have a disease that
can spread or these chooks would have died and it is more likely that your
friend is just starving them.

I'd rip right into him if I thought he was starving his chooks to death.
