OK...this is our first year raising our own turkeys...been raising them
since spring and ate two at Thanksgiving...one weighted in at 25lbs the
other at 15 (different breeds)...one was roasted, the other fried....no
problem we thought....we had a tom we were saving for Christmas and
figured based upon the size difference between him and the hen we had
killed he would weigh in at about 35lbs...well...
Yesterday was kill and clean day and we now have a slight
problem...he weighed in at just under 50lbs...I think I can fit him in
my oven and can probably squeeze him into a pan but not sure how long to
figure on cooking him...the standard 15 mins per pound at 325f or is it
a little different with larger birds?...I've never even SEEN a turkey
that big...
Anyone ever cook a turkey that big?
Thanks!
Tony

LOL - The question I have is 'What does it take to KILL a 50 lb. turkey?
