Its the best way to checking the condition of the eggs, even your own.
Incubating eggs that have hair line cracks are a potential contaminant for
other eggs in the setting.
;)
One advantage of incubating under a hen is that even if an egg does break
during incubation, the other eggs look clean in a few days. I think her
feathers polish the gook off the eggs.
