some are surprisingly unreliable these days.
Get yourself some cheep dog cages and you can set up a sin bin area in the garage to break them as they go broody.
Good luck with your hatchings and breeding, stick around it would be great to hear how you get on with the hatchings.
If you need a laddie for this year and fancied a trip over here we have a couple of chunky utility Light sussex boys spare.
I have a mixed bag of silkies and others. They don't inter-breed, and I use the silkies as surrogate parents, to hatch out the other hens eggs.
Oh that is good news - will save a lot of work to know that - but watch out if I find any little feathery feet amongst my chicks!
