The only mistake I'm aware of was of not emailing other purchasers
before buying these eggs. What are you suggesting

What I have suggested is :-
Inspecting eggs on receipt
Candling eggs on receipt.
Resting eggs properly on receipt.

which is a silly thing to start, but that others sellers self
reported feedback in sales descriptions seems to be well awry - most
of the numbers do not seem to have existed

You can't leave feedback for a number that doesn't exist!!

Look at the reports of the meat bird eggs being sold.
They seem a bit confused as to what they are : Sasso are not the same thing
as Cobb
And the feedback is listed in the description - as being from the
brother-in-law's account but they do not seem to figure in the buyers lists.

I'd politely suggest the problem lies between chair and keyboard in
this case.

Possibly, as I said.
It was late last night after another busy day but can you see any of the
transactions that are listed on the meat bird egg description?

Rumblings says there was a 0% hatch rate to us but the feedback says
1 hatched

That is an absolute lie and partly why I feel so angry. He is clearly
trying to smear my reputation and he left (dishonest) feedback first.
I candled one egg out as definitely clear at an early date and did not
retain it so did not return it. I decided to leave the rest to the end
whatever and none of them chipped.

But the chicks were there -- so the eggs were not infertile.

I returned them without candling again so can't comment, results from
other Ebay buyers show similar results - ie either clear or dead
chicks at chipping time.

The two things are very different.

And plenty others have great things to say about the eggs, for those who
have visited, about the setup.

He has clearly not
candled them before hatching and not responded to the suggestion
that they should have been rested correctly too.

Your advice conflicts slightly with that given on most sites and by
several Ebay sellers.

I learnt from experience and from those who have been doing it a long while
before it became fashionable. Sometimes a tincture of time is useful
Also the systems that the eggs go through in the post are much more brutal
than before.

The breeder has certainly done a lot of homework, has birds from good
sources, whom he has probably learnt a lot from. He has been breeding
seriously for 4 years. No-one gets it right all the time. And he
will have learnt from things himself. Not being rude to customers,
whatever the provocation, would be a high priority one. Chances are
if he hadn't reacted that way, rumblings would not have got so upset.

He arrogantly assumes all problems are due to the post or to
incubation errors.

He may or may not be arrogant but he is certainly right that most problems
are to do with those factors.
Its hard if one is getting great results yourself, and you test eggs out on
others and they get good results but then shipped eggs do not do so well.
Its why so many breeders will not ship eggs.
It takes a lot of time and effort to get eggs out to customers and if they
come back unsatisfied for reasons you can do nothing about then its very
disheartening.
When we lost our 24 hour carrier we stopped. It had been good before that.
I understand its frustrating for you as well. Hope you have more luck with
other suppliers.
