Having just had to deal with YET another price increase in all the feeds
we buy for ourselves and sell to others I was wondering if everyone else
around the country [globe] is having the same experience.
We have had 6 price hikes in the past 9 months. What I sold layers pellets
per bag at this time last year is now a lot less than I can buy wholesale
by the pallet. The price I am having to charge per bag now is horrendous.
And that is with absorbing some of the extra transport costs we got
hammered with recently.
Curious to know what is happening elsewhere?
It's gone up every time I buy it. Price paid today was GBP 6.50/20 kg
Spillers layers pellets, 5.00/20 kg wheat.
I now mix my food, 2 bags layers to one bag wheat to keep the cost down a
bit. I've not noticed its affected egg production - but as all my girls are
getting elderly and are rare breeds it costs me about 3 quid to get a dozen
eggs even when they're in full lay now.
To cost it out over the year with their long lay-off after moulting? Just
don't go there...
Tina
