I've read a few books belonging to a friend and have learnt most of what I know (which isn't a lot!) from him and from reading this group over the last year and from its archives. However, I would really like to get an all-purpose chicken-keeping reference book and I wondered what others would recommend - preferably something written from the UK point of view since our weather conditions are so different from some other parts of the world.
I found this book most helpful

ckens

and although not written from a UK perspective it is generic enough to
apply to any climate.

Thanks for the link. I have tracked it down on Amazon UK, where it seems to have rather mixed reviews! However, I might see if I can find it in the library first.

Which was going to be my recommendation. :) I have been borrowing books recently and our library seems to have quite a few poultry books written in the UK although not much written in AU.

Just today I found a DVD 'A Guide to Keeping Hens in your Garden' with Francine Raymond; provides an encouraging step by step guide on how to choose, house and care for your flock; based in Suffolk; put out by Second Sight Productions.
