My barn is immaculate. No broken eggs on the floor.I don't even use
the shells for calcium. shell go in the compost, I use oyster shells
for calcium.

I save all shells from the kitchen, and every week or so grind them to
powder and feed them with the layer ration. That way the hens get their
calcium back in a form unidentifiable as an eggshell.
