True. But until you can appreciate the humor in being called an idiot
by MV or a fool by Algis, you just don't have a fully developed sense
of fun :0)

True. True. His main problem is that he needs new material.

Thanks for the tips. I do have access to a university library, but
it's a fifty mile drive there and back and, if it's just to look at a
paper that's being discussed on usenet, I usually don't bother. In
fact I've only done so once. Easy access to full online papers would
be excellent. But, truth to tell, even if I did have such access, it
probably wouldn't alter my reading habits that much. The way I look at
it, the primary scientific literature is like whisky: good for you on
occasions, but not to be indulged in overmuch. For PAs it's different,
but the casual paleoanthro buff should be able to get by mostly on
abstracts, Google, a couple subscriptions to popular science
magazines, the occasional book, and where appropriate, a bit of
imagination :0)
And, if one keeps an open mind, s.a.p. itself is a learning resource.
It can be very helpful to have one's ignorance pointed out by
knowledgable persons in a public arena. Of course there's the problem
of determining who is knowledgable and who is not ;0)
