Well, there is no evidence (it is very hard to collect evidence for
using of fire by humans), but I am connecting fire use with human
terrestrial living. Terrestrial living is at least 7 million years old. I
could stretch this to 10 millions or more (I am connecting it with the
emergence of grasses, in todays sense of the word, which were 10m or more).
Evidence of fire is actually evidence of hearts. And it looks like stones in
circle. IIRC this is like 700 000 years ago (oldest evidence).
Talking I am connecting with stone tools development. Humans still
had small brain when they started to develop stone tools (brain enlarged
after this, not before). I believe they actually had good communication
ability, by then. This was >2 million years. The reason why I am connecting
this, you can find in my conversation with Pastor Dave, about skyscreapers.
Especially if you take that this was practiced by only one type of hominids,
us humans. Which extincted the rest.
Dogs are chasing prey in savanna (as far as I know). And I am
connecting people to savanna, as makers of savanna (by using fire). So, I
wouldn't be surprised if dogs and humans are long time together. Much longer
than 10 000 years. I don't remember what is the accepted date. This would go
for a lot of domesticated animals, as well.
So, in my view, it went in stages. Fire >10mya, stone tools
(language) >2mya. Stone tools development was very slow. When it sped up, I
am connecting this with advance of civilization. And it took long time,
again, from starting of civilization to bronze age. Metal is just a stone
put in fire. And it took a long time do develop metal industry (after
beginings of civilization, as I see it).
Advance of modern civilization, I am connecting with advance in
democracy. This is actually what started today's boom. Airplanes, computers,
genetics, all those things, one by one. But, take the oldest. Guns
developed, and stalled (it was supposed to advence to the stage to bring us
to the Moon, according to Jules Verne. But this wasn't the case, as you can
see.). The same goes for cars. Then airplanes, rockets. These all things
will develop until they reach their limits. And new things aren't in front
of our eyes, anymore. They are tiny computers, and genetics. But, how low
can you go? Can you go much lower. We are pretty close to our limits. We
started to develop, we reached limits, and that's it. -- Mario
