OK, that post was nothing but quote, unless someone needs to edit better.
By the way, while running requires breathing through our mouths (as does
exerting ourselves while swimming...again, I speak as an actual swimmer),
the longer caucasoid noses are quite useful for filtering dust. I still
suspect that the more african nose, which our ancestors probably had, is
more useful for semi-aquatic life, whereas my own nose is more useful for
dusty, or cold, air.
I figure we evolved it AFTER having moved away from the semi-aquatic
lifestyles (which produced our bare skin with attached blubber and sweat
glands), into Europe, Asia, and the later drying-up central part of Africa.
