Gosh, dogs, cats, horses, rats, etc. are born with the ability to swim.  Did
they also evolve as aquatic dogs, aquatic cats, etc.?  I simply can't find the
aquatic dog theory.

I think that was the intelligent thoughtful type of reply they were talking about in the show.
