You're are mixing up things, I'm afraid.
Homo & Pan split c 5 Ma.
Hominids & pongids split c 15 Ma or so.
We have a lot of hominid fossils older than 5 Ma: Sahelanthr (7), Orrorin
(6), Samburupith (9), Ouranopith (8), possibly Oreopith (7), Dryopith
(12)...
.
