Surely the ancestral climate was primarily
tropical? Africa runs roughly from 30
degrees North to 30 South. IMHO the
most likely locations are within about 15
degrees of the Equator.
In any case, I'm looking at a fairly narrow
coastal strip, where much of the weather
would come from fairly local interaction
with the ocean. I'm not sure whether
a warm ocean would produce more local
rain and condensation than a cold one,
but in any case, it would produce some.
