Today where more than one wife is permitted by the culture or religion, it
is limited by the male's ability to provide for more than one wife. Though
allowed, it might not be seen in practice because economic considerations.
No matter how far back the practice extends, there must always have been
some similar limiting factor.
On the other hand, it is very difficult to limit reckless male behavior
today and I feel sure this extends deep into our past as well. Why not
consider this as a more possible causative factor than harems and precluding
same males from mating?
My "proof" is the difference between car insurance for males 16-25 and
females 16-25 - at least in the US the difference is expensive. Certainly
the young terrorist bombers we see from the mid-East argue for recklessness
as well as bidability.
Can't remember if the "8 times more mobile" females were from settled
peoples or not.

You will never see any flames coming from the "savanna" (there IS no
savanna hypothesis) group, only from the wet-heads, and they are easy
to identify, just do a word search for "water", "wade", and "imbecile".
