Four of them are much more obvious than the other three.
I use MSG when I make spiedie sauce

and I've tasted it pure.
Pure MSG on the tongue, really doesn't taste like very much.
The most astringent thing that I've ever tasted,
is a petal from a banana flower.
The second most astringent thing I've ever tasted,
was a Benadryl capsule that disolved in my mouth
before I could swallow it.
I mostly recall the astringent sensation,
occuring over the entire inside of my mouth,
rather than being localised on my tongue.
