Re: Color Vision Evolved To Spot Blushing

Blushing probably evolved because of color vision.....

Colour vision may have evolved in primates to help them pick up on
changes in blood and oxygen concentrations beneath the skin's
surface, giving access to emotional cues, a new analysis proposes.

Previously research has suggested that primates - the only mammals
with the ability to see in colour - evolved this facility to spot
ripe fruits or nutritional leaves.

The usual next-to-unbelievably half-witted
stuff -- that is pretty standard throughout the
study of hominoid evolution.

Primates have colour vision because it's useful
-- as birds and most other diurnal species have
discovered. Mammals keep their bi-chromal
vision because that's all they need at night.
when they are active. You can't see much in
the way of colour in the dark, or when light
levels are low. Mammals -- except for primates
-- are predominantly nocturnal. Colour vision
is a luxury they do not need, and cannot
afford.

How is it possible to be a student, or teacher,
of human evolution, or of primate evolution,
and not know basic facts of this nature?
Yet virtually all are so ignorant.
