The interesting thing about this question is:
When I was a kid ( even ) in the 60's there were TIME-Life science
books like The Evolution of Man where they had a 2 page illustrated
chart showing that the "Negroid", "Mongoloid", "Caucasian", etc all
split off from different fossil ancestors, and had been separated by
millions of years of evolution.
(They made later editions that removed this diagram).
So now this new idea of several thousand years or even several years is
much less restrictive.
What do you bet the article you read was connected to the idea of
multi-regional evolution in one or another of its several iterations?
