Warning: because the humans have high-powered rifles, this video has some
portions that may be troubling to those who respect animals, and the same
site of origin has other videos that demonstrate amply how helpless we are
against lions...in the worst possible way. I strongly suggest that those not
be watched at all.

This is one of the most amazing videos I've ever seen.

I agree. And I have always maintained that rock-throwing and/or
stick-wielding would have been all but worthless against these kind of

ANd yet, there are humans who do this one on one...

Facing the Lion: by Maasai Warriors
How do Maasai warriors hunt lions?
...
Lion hunting is an ancient practice that played an important role in the Maasai
culture.
...
The Maasai believe that females are the bearers of life in every species. As a such,
it is prohibited to hunt a female lion ...
...
It is not easy to hunt a lion alone. However, a majority of Maasai warriors have
done it.
...
Fighting a lion inside intensely vegetated area can be extremely dangerous. The
lion is as smart as men, and can maneuver through the bushes faster than a human
being. For this reason, the Maasai warriors prefer to fight lions in the open
plains. This is the best decision to make and best place to be. By doing so, the
warrior would give a lion a chance to fight. Lion hunting is all about challenging
another creature without cheating. Facing a lion in the open savanna is a memory
of a life time!
...
The warriors do not need to attend a gym, and do not need a rifle for lion hunting.
All you need is one spear and one shield. Keep in mind that many warriors have been
lost to lions.

killing machines. And then consider the fact that A'pith were shorter
and slighter than moden humans and the Sabertoothed lion were even
bigger and more muscular than present day lions. It's a done deal.
The only place A'pith could have survived an attack by a lion is to get
high in a tree. And considering the lions speed--and this amazing
video leaves no doubt about their speed--we can be fairly certain that
they never ventured more than 50 or maybe a 100 yards from the safety
of trees.

The conventional notion that the earliest hominids lived a lifestyle
that can loosely be described as migatory and/or seasonally migratory
(one of the assumptions of the Hunter-gatherer paradigm of modern
anthropology) is completely refuted by the realization that they could
not possibly have survived the predatory implications associate with
savanna habitat if they lived that kind of lifestyle. This fact in
conjuction with the patchiness of the forested patches in this mosaic
habitat (monsoon forest habitat) dictate the conclusion that they lived
a situated, communal, territorial existence even in the earliest years
of hominid evolution.

It's unfortunate that modern paleoanthropology is so intent upon
forcing down our throats the conclusion that the earliest A'pith
ancestors were migratory and/or seasonally migratory.
