Re: Bipedality

Clipper the Horse:
Bipedalism is merely an extension of extensionism. All animals
extend themselves in one circumsance or another. Even molecules
extend! I dont know and have never understood what the big deal
with bipedalism is. Debating its origins is a little like debating
about the national debt in Reganomics Phase XIV under Bush
after we already know every Amerikan is a millionaire!

Mario Petrinovich:
Yes, savanna guys are right. It is economical way of moving, and
it allows you to see far for potential predators.
It is simply ideal for the exploration of coast line. That way
you
can walk far, and you can better see if some animal is hiding behind some
rock.
Of course, vertical climbing of rocky cliff, as well as running
downhill (hind limbs first) can only help to acquire such a trait.

This is what is unique to us. Derived. In paleoanthropology you are
researching derived things, and mechanisms that led to that derivation.
Just like you said that this mechanism is "extensionism".
