I think this is my all-time favorite.

Paul Crowley: "Hand axes were produced by grinding,
and at an economical rate by hominids.
Put them on a pebble beach and they'd
be ground (and broken) to dust within a
few years (or even months)."
It seems that Olsen has never visited this
planet, nor received intelligible reports on
the behaviour of its elements where large
bodies of water meet the land (i.e. coasts).
So he is obviously not a carbon-based
life form. And, even though other planets
commonly have large bodies of liquid
material on a sold substrate, behaving
in much the same manner as on this,
he cannot live on one.
He is probably a purely gaseous entity.
That would explain how he has so little
grasp of the relative weights of water and
stone, and how in violent movements of
the water (i.e. in waves and during storms)
elements of solid material at the base of
the water (i.,e. pebbles, stones and rocks)
begin to behave as a quasi-liquid. In this
process they bang into each other and rub
up against each other, in a manner not too
dissimilar from that in a grinding machine.
Of course, all humans who have seen an
exposed beach, and perceived the amount
of erosion that takes place there, would be
able to deduce this in any case.
Paul.
