DD doesn't see any water

Just your imagination...? See all the prey? Oops, they're all down at
the waterhole...

"In the rains, greater kudu remain in the deciduous woodlands. During
the dry season they can be found in along the banks of rivers where
there is rich vegetation (Estes, 1991)." (From Animaldiversity...site)

Why does that not surprise me????

So, that means kudu are aquatic?

Come on Lee, hop in the canoe, lets get some fish, crawdads and maybe
spear a hippo, croc or kudu on the way! Rest your weary limbs...:)

After you chop down a tree, and hollow it out.

Hmmm, no, Mr. Karoha is making them in to quarter pounders....could
you pass me the barbecue sauce please?http://www.naturalhistorymag.com/master.html?http://www.naturalhistor...

Riverside hunting in dug-outs, well camoflaged and well armed...

Australopiths in dugouts?

Can't be any water here says DD, less than 7 inches of rain a year
(closer to a desert than a savanna).

and so on... keep runnin' you find a squirrel or something...

What's the matter with squirrel??? Tastes just like rattlesnake....or
was that prairie chicken?

I've enjoyed eating them all COOKED, and enjoyed eating RAW oysters
popping them off the reef rocks with a simple stick tool.

And didn't get sick?

I find it odd that this guy has no problem finding running water here,
but DD can't.http://www.hickerphoto.com/data/media/40/mountain_sheep_T3794.jpg

Note the nice fur coat. He'd be miserable naked & fat methinks!

He is fat. For the cold.

Our ancesters lived on Mount Kilamanjaro...of course!

Right, where else did they get all that rock?

Water from the
glaciers...That's what I said a couple years ago...remember the
snowman hypothesis? We learned to walk in the snow, didn't want cold
hands.

Think it never freezes in Kenya? Back to school for you.

Not at the sunny seashores where our ancestors were! That's why we get
fat, not furry. Ever see a furless mountain goat?

Our ancestors were all over Africa. Not the seashore.

Potts: "You may recall that one reason we think that early human
fossils are so rare at Olorgesailie is that the hominins were living
in the highlands. Almost certainly they weren't living (and dying)
down by the water's edge at night, when predators are very active.

Trees bubba, as in chimps. Baboons climb hills-kopjes (tx Mario), then
go on the savanna to eat quadrupedally, yet they wade bipedally single
file.

You still have ostriches in trees at Gona, 2.6 mya, right?
As
you may also recall, we think that the dense handaxe concentrations
may have been left by the hominins at watering holes before they
walked back up into the highlands, following a trip to the lowlands to
obtain meat and plant foods. Finally, remember (part of clue #2) that
the shallow stream channels were probably dry at times, and we think
they may have contained a few ponds as the water dried up."

nice stories, from tarzan?

Better than the ones from jane (Ealine Morgan).

DD, sorry I can't go swimming today..... a hippo ate my dugout.
Lee, you don't need a dug-out to swim...;)

Not having a good day are you? Know where I got that? Someone on this
list told me you needed a dugout to get out into the middle of the
river where the crocs can't get you. Hint: their initials = DD

Very confusing statement there, you need a dug-out to swim???? Back-to-
school days must be coming up soon....;)

Quite clear statement. Looks like you skipped school.

Rich, you never learned how to swim and you think a dugout is required
to swim?

Not having a good day are you? Know where I got that? Someone on this
list told me you needed a dugout to get out into the middle of the
river where the crocs can't get you. Hint: their initials = DD

He's saying you can swim to the middle of the river if you haven't a dugout...
