special adaptations (e.g. vultures)
will eat rotten flesh.
Paul.
Keep 'em coming, Paul, this one is right in there with chimps can't
dig.
Olsen is in my kill-file along with
Verhagen. Their pointless ding-
dong gets on my nerves.

"Native Alaskans have been known to bury beaver tail, fetal walrus,
and others until the meat ferments, then eat it. I think it is more of
a ceremonial delicacy than something intended to cure an illness, but
I'm not sure."

I saw the program, it was a monkey they killed. First they ate the
maggots, then they burnt off the hair and ate. Yum. The camera man
threw up.

Some animals can routinely eat rotting
flesh. Others can't -- it makes them ill.
Crocodiles can eat almost anything;
but much of that food would kill other
carnivores. Cats never eat 'bad food'
whereas dogs often do. Maybe with
humans (and sometimes other animals)
there is much 'cultural' or 'learned' -- but
broadly it is based on good common
sense. People who eat food that is 'off'
are liable to die of food poisoning. One
example here was the mother of Timothy
West (a well-known English actor) was
always offering her children food that
'past its sell-by date'. Eventually she
died from it.
Paul.
