Here: What is human fat FOR?
Other mammals get by without it, or
with minimal amounts. Humans need a
lot -- especially infants and females.
WHY?
You could always try visiting that link &
reading the rest of Caroline Pond's articles
Paulie. But I'm sure that wouldn't suit you:
after all, she's a mainstream theorist, who
undertakes [errk] ~primary research~...
Sorry -- I had a most unusual and wholly uncharacteristic episode of
credulousness.
For a minute, I assumed that PA types
were interested in truth, and willing
to consider a scientific question.
The briefest of glances at Caroline
Pond or the Jim Moore website (that
discusses this) is enough to dispel
such a foolish illusion.
Apparently human adults have fat
because once they got fire and weapons
(about a million years ago) they no
longer had to run from predators.
It does not occur to Moore (et al.)
that it would be crazy to think that
before a million years ago any hominid
could out-run any ordinary predator.
Likewise the reason that babies are
fat (off the scale in terms of primate
infants) is because they are off the
scale in brain size. Hey, isn't that
logical? If you're off the scale in
two ways, they must be interdependent
-- right?
So hominids are bipedal because
they are naked -- or vice versa
(being off the scale in both ways).
Likewise they use tools because
they sweat -- or vice versa (being
off the scale in two ways).
You gettin' ready to discuss "habitat
preferences", Pauly? Let me know
when you're ready. Then we can
clear up that business about Alzheimers.
PA 'science' is such fun.
It sure is. You should try it
sometime.
