RE: ETHNIC HERITAGE OF GREECE AND ITS MINORITIES
Greeks, Italians, Romanians and Albanians are derived from a
common
people and language who arrived in their current region from the
Caucasus
mountains over five thousand years ago. The Greeks absorbed the
original
Pelasgian inhabitants of their new land. (Greek words with a double-s,
which
was also represented with a double-t, are of Pelasgian origin,
example:
Thessaly, Larissa, Thalassa). The Islands of the Mediterranean
were
originally inhabited by the Phoenicians, based in present-day Lebanon,
but
whose Semitic language is best represented in Malta. In fact, all
formerly
Phoenician lands (esp Crete, Lebanon, and Sicily) still maintain the
same
clan-based mode of conflict resolution known as vendetta or mafia. As
the
Greeks prospered, they moved east into Asia Minor, assimilating the
Semitic
Anatolians or Hittites (best known as the Trojans and Lydians).
The
Armenians are a hybrid between Semitic Hittites and
proto-Greek
Indo-Europeans.
Arvanite is spoken in small isolated communities widely separated
from
each other in central and southern Greece, esp. Attica, Boetica, Euboea
and
Hydra. The 1951 census counted about 23,000 Arvanites. Arvanites, who
speak
Tosk, are closer to true Albanians than most inhabitants of Albania, as
the
Ghegs of Albania are the product of Turk Dervish Janissarism.
Albanians
lived high in the mountains, heavily hybridised with Pelasgians, and
resisted
civilisation. The Turks arrived in the Balkans fascinated by these
wild
savages of the mountains and made them into a fighting force.
Vlahs are found scattered across the Pindus mountains centered
at
Metsovon. The 1951 census listed 40,000 Vlahs. In 1912 Venizelos agreed
that
the Romanian government would provide (still does) schools for Vlahs.
The
Sarakatsans are considered to be Greek-speaking Vlahs. Averoff, when he
was
leader of the Vlahs, suggested they write in Greek lettering so as to
not
agitate the Greeks. During the second world war the Vlahs sided with
Italy
and formed the Legionaris. The Vlahs derive from a hybrid people of
Thrace,
who were heavily latinised by the Romans, who called them Dacia. The
Vlahs
also have Celtic lineage. The Galatians of the New Testament are also
Celts
as the Celts originally inhabited the Carpathian mountains of Central
Europe
and were driven westward by Julius Caesar. Galicia in Spain and Belarus
also
are originally Celtic, as Galatia and Galicia are cognate with Gaul.
The overwhelming majority of Greek Slavs (regardless if they
were
Vardars, Serbs or Bulgars) went to Bulgaria during the population
transfers
of 1920-22, and today there are only 30,000 Slavs mostly in
Florina.
Likewise many Greeks living in Bulgaria (Plovdiv was known as
Phillipople)
went to Greece. The Bulgarians, being partly derived from Turk Tsuvaks of
the
Volga (from which the name Bulgarian is derived), have had split
loyalty
between their Slavic and Turkic ancestries.
When the Mongols drove the Slavs and Germans out of the
Indo-European
generatrix of the Caucasus mountains (where Noah's Ark has been found),
the
Slavs overran all of Greece in the seventh century, causing many Greeks
to
flee to Magna Graecia in Italy. However, when the Emperor Maurice
repelled
the Slavs, the Greeks returned from Italy, somewhat intermarried. But
many
took these events out of context and falsely argued that only Slavs were
left
in Greece or that Southern Italy was all Greek.
Those Turks who had remained after Greek territories became
independent
of the Ottoman Empire mostly left during the population transfers of
1920-22
as Attaturkism invented ethnic cleansing. The 1923 Treaty of
Lausaunne,
however, provided for continued Turkish presence in Thrace and
continued
Greek presence in Istanbul; each 100,000 - but today there are 500,000
Turks
in Thrace and 5,000 Greeks in Istanbul - the Greeks having been
ethnically
cleansed in the 1950s with NATO complicity. The Turks hail from the
Uyghur
(origin of name Ugro, Hungarian) Mongols in today's Northwest China.
Their
language is in the Ugro-Ural-Altaic group which includes Finnish,
Hungarian
(M'uyghur=Magyar) Korean and Japanese (but NOT Chinese) and derives from
the
ancient reindeer herding nomad Scythian Horde (ever the scourge
and
antithesis of civilization even to this day), who intermingled with
blondes
in the west and Asians in the east, producing a remarkable diversity.
Sixty
thousand male Turk Uyghur horsemen arrived at Manzikert a millenium
ago,
raping their conquests to produce the ethnic stock of modern Turkey.
