Looking for a quote

Dear group,

I, like you, dislike "drive-by postings" but I am hoping you can
tolerate this one.

I am trying to chase down a quote. The quote describes the popular
perception of anthropology and culture as "native" peoples of some
foreign land with:

"a person clothed in a jungle suit and wearing a pith helmet, lying in
a hammock under the palm trees on some South Seas Island, watching
gorgeous brown-skinned men and women dance, while lazily jotting
things down in a small notebook."

I had previously attributed this quote to:

Kottak, C. P. (1978). Anthropology: The Exploration of Human
Diversity. New York, Random House

But I can't find it there and it doesn't really sound like Kottak
anyway.

Does anybody recognize this?
