Snowboarders as a social group

I am currently working on a 'Who Are We?' type story for a snowboard
magazine. As well as asking snowboarders to define themselves and what
they do, I'd like to hear some observations and definitions from a
social anthropology standpoint... any offers? the more scientific/
jargon the better!
