And I'm sorry to contradict you, but this is completely wrong. There are
publishers who publish classical works for £1 a book because they don't
have to pay anyone copyright, for instance. Do you think anyone needs
permission to publish the King James version of the Bible?
I've read the relevant legislation for the US, have you? What do you find
in it to support your statement?
