Get a good book on the European search for the Northeast passage. It will
illuminate you on the difficulties of making the journey, either by water or
overland, proposed by the URL you cite. It was virtually impossible that
this sort of journey could have been taken circa 1000AD, not to mention that
there would seemingly have been no rationale for even trying it.

Again, read a book on the topic.
