Please excuse the intrusion Mr. Jefferson, but I can't resist.

As you stated, Mr. Jefferson, many references I've checked have it as
astrological in origin. See http://m-w.com and http://www.etymonline.com
. See also http://www.word-detective.com/101797.html which gives "dis" as
'away', 'wrong' or 'not'.

Leave it to Stevens to either invent something out of whole cloth, or to
cull through a hundred references and find the one and only (which he
neglects to give) that gives something differing from the other 99.

Permit me to say, Mr. Jefferson, that I admire your civility and restraint
in dealing with Stevens. You are a far, far better man than I am when it
comes to tolerating his sort.
