Steve Marcus cites the book as being peer reviewed.

Michael Zalar (and I) deny that it was peer reviewed.

Steve Marcus says yes it was - err - but - etc - but its still a jolly
good book.

Michael Zalar (and I) point out that it had gross errors in its
dealing with the KRS and Michael later adds that it was produced in a
hurry and the time-pressure caused problems with editing.

Erik Hammerstad cited/quoted from
http://www.swgc.mun.ca/nfld_history/nfld_history_early_exploration.htm
which says that the Smithsonian publication is a jolly good thing.

I pointed out that while that site says that lots of parts of the book
are excellent, it makes no mention of the KRS so it carries no weight
in opposition to the accusation of eggregious errors with respect to
the section dealing with the KRS.

The above is a summary of the thread as it led to your question above.
It should also serve to answe your question.

Please feel free to say that the thread actually went somewhere else
and that by following this line I am (as usual) attempting to create a
diversion.
