That's because "some scholars" have heard about the Hudson Bay Company, know
about the history of exploration of Hudson Bay on behalf of the Company,
know about the fact that they built stockades on rivers leading into the Bay
and wintered their ships in those rivers. See, for example, "Voyages of
Delusion: The Quest for the Northwest Passage", which gives a good account
of such matters in language simple enough for you to understand. Other
"scholars" are merely seeking to confirm pre-Columbian European visits to
North America and/or are simply seeking to confirm that Scandinavians were
running all over North America before Columbus arrived, so they twist
everything they can to confirm their personal biases.
