Thanks for the vote of confidence
I went underground for a while, it was very emotional for me as it seemed
that so many people thought I was a scam merchant, just out to try and steal
a few quid from the mouths of babes it seems.
The money is coming in slowly and at the moment is going directly to the
DEC, although Im getting to know more localised fundlines coming in such as
one in Sri Lanka by some UK volunteers who have flown out to help the clean
up. They have stressed that sending to money direct to their Sri Lankan
account that they have set up will buy more locally £1 spent here will buy
as much as £10 over there. The source is reliable and it may be more
beneficial.
I watched amateur footage that the BBC have put together, it had me in tears
watching such devastation and watching parents cradling their dead children.
I can't even start to fathom the heartache that is happening over there at
the moment.
I can't stress enough for people to give to any charity they feel that
benefits the cause, it will all get there one way. I must come down a gent
that dissed me on another history group, he was insistant that I should give
it all up and leave it to the 'professionals' and all I can say that if it
wasn't for the 'amateur' fundraisers, most charities would never be able to
do the work that they do. It was a totally disgusting thing to say, and in
one remark, made all the work that 1000's of people do everyday is futile
and worthless.
I know I am going on a little here, but I just want to stress to everyone
that I am someone who just wants to help in my little way, I work very long
hours and have to keep doing that to pay the bills, but If I had the time
and capabilities, I would be attempting my way over to SE Asia to try and do
my little bit. I have never felt to strongly about anything in my life.
Anyway, I hope that you are well, and again, thank you for the kind words
Tracy Matthews
