1935 years, actually. The eruption was in 70 ad.
What are the prospects that Herculaneum will be "sorted out" in the next
year or two? What will be the expenses for the dig and who is a prospective
sponsor?
My understanding of excavation problems in that area are that they are
extraordinarily difficult, not least because of the modern city of Ercolaneo
that has since been built on top of the volcanic deposits that cover the
site.
