Fletcher has followed Brothwell, who was her lead forensic
colloborator, in noting that mummy hair color is not likely to resemble
that of the living person. There would have to be exceptional
conditions of preservation to prevent natural hair degradation.

Sometimes a mummy has a generally oxidized look, as in the case of
Ramses II who had sort of a rusty looking color to both the hair and
skin.
Pheomelanin is also present in the skin in individuals who possess this
pigment.
