It really depends on the environment. In West Virginia there are
neighborhoods that were occupied in the 50's that you can't tell were
there hardly. The only things left are chimneys and foundations. Old
roads are only visible because they are flat. Trees grow on them like
anywhere else. There was a paved alley on our property when I was a
kid that was paved in the 20's and in the 80's when I discovered it
there was nothing left but a layer of asphalt about 6 inches under
ground.
Out west there are towns that have been abandoned since the 1880's
that are fairly intact.
In south america there were cities and towns all over what is now the
Amazon rain forest and we are just now finding evidence for it due to
the lush growth. Seems almost none of it is pristine. But those towns
and cities are only a couple thousand years old and there are towns in
the mediterranean that are 5000 years old and still easily
discernable.
