All you write is very true. The parchment used for the map is about
the right age. What is not known is when the map was drawn on that
parchment.
The iron gall ink formulation is also correct. What is a problem is
that every analysis of the ink on the Vinland Map shows very low levels
of iron which is totally inconsistant with what you write above about
the composition of old iron gall ink (mostly iron oxides). The ink has
an organic base and the black colour comes from carbon black.
