value of relics?

I know an individual who possesses a ring found in the tomb of a saint and
several of the bones found in the sarchophagus. The provenance
documentation is irrefutable. What would be the value of such items, or is
it impossible to put a value on something like this? I know that there are
relics all across Europe in various churches and was wondering what such
items would bring if it were legal to auction them?
Does anyone have any other opinions on this subject?
